Pastor
Poitras graduated from Bible College in 1984. His over 20
years in ministry has been with both larger and smaller
churches, and in different size ministry team type situations.
He counts it a privilege of his to have always worked with
growing churches.
Our
pastor has also served as Bible College principal and teacher,
and taught church growth methods around North America and
overseas. His experiences in ministry are very diverse;
he has learned language, taught hundreds of home Bible studies,
developed complete evangelism/church leadership and Bible
study courses, and also set up church sponsored day care,
non-profit housing, and a homeless shelter, etc.
Outside
of ministry Pastor Henry has developed a side-line of skills
in International Trade Professionalism; excelling in small
to mid-size business planning. In this realm of business
planning expertise he has also been welcomed to work in
community college teaching, and to further studies in a
MBA program. Having a manager type person as pastor has
it's advantages, especially since he serves as administrator
of Bethel school, etc. along with being pastor here at Bethel.
Pastor
Poitras followed the call of God to Bethel here in Calgary
from New Brunswick in July, 2007. With the way Bethel has
potential and is growing, a fresh chapter in each one of
Pastor Henry's ministry experiences now begins. We're glad
for what he brings to Bethel, but also for the fact that
it is backed by his emphasis on the work that only God can
get done, as we pray. God knows what He is doing with providing
us such a pastor.
You
can call him "Pastor Henry", that is very much
welcome. However, if you want a lesson in French, the name
"Poitras", which is a very well known name in
Quebec, is pronounced like "Pwa-tra".
Sister
Poitras attended the same Bible college as her husband.
Her music, Sunday School work, love for children and work
with Ladies functions, etc. have been highlights in her
church work over the years of their ministry. You will enjoy
her pleasant spirit.
Pastor
Henry and Rosanne have two children. Joleen is a Jr. High
student at our Bethel Christian Academy. Trevin, their eldest,
transferred from University New Brunswick in Business Administration,
where he was under full scholarship,,, and reports he is
loving both Bethel work and University of Calgary.
Appreciation is to be expressed to all those who have played
a part in helping the Poitras family get settled with this
new ministry at Bethel, and into the great mission of Calgary,
AB.
