The following
are thoughts on evangelism that Pastor Poitras has never preached on before
until a recent Weds. p.m. Bible Study series here at Bethel.
- The context of 'the
effectual fervent prayer of righteous man availeth much is encouragement to
believe God for miracles as the church reaches out... to the fallen. James
5:16 - 17.
- The right focused prayer
for the soulwinner is for them to have boldness/clarity in relating the mystery
of the Gospel. Eph. 6:19 & 20; Col. 4:3 & 4.
- The will of God for the
minister and church outreach is always that folks would be saved and come
to a knowledge of the truth of One God... 1 Tim. 2:4 - 6.
- Ministries are to be
appreciated for bringing folks to believing and staying in an attitude of
'one' with those before or after them that gave/give themselves to this same
mission. 'Who then is... but ministers by whom you believed... and he that
planteth and he that watereth are one...' 1 Cor. 3:5 - 8.
- A preacher worth back'n
is found on course with Malachi 2:6 The Law of the truth was in his mouth
and the iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and
equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
- A church going international
with the right focus is found in Zechariah 8: 20- 22 Thus saith the LORD of
hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants
of many cities: 21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying,
Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts:
I will go also. 22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek
the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.
- Soulwinners are lasting
light - not darkness. Dan. 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness
of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for
ever and ever.
- Find a way to show salvation
everyday. Ps. 96:2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation
from day to day.
- Evangelism must say how
to know the Lord - Jer. 31:34 And they shall teach…. every man his neighbour,
and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD…
- He has put burden in
our souls because there is someone that needs us to reach out to them with
soul . Ezk. 3:18 & 19 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die;
and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his
wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity;
but his blood will I require at thine hand. 19 Yet if thou warn the wicked,
and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die
in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
